Pol Roger Champagne

Pol Roger is one of Champagne's most famous and respected houses. Based in Epernay, and therefore more influenced by the Chardonnay vineyards of the Cote des Blancs, the house style is lighter and more delicate than that of Reims firms such as Louis Roederer and Veuve Clicquot. Winston Churchill admired the tenacity and substance of the Reims champagnes but, in the end, was won over by the feminine charms both of Odette Pol-Roger and of her wine. After one visit he declared 44 Avenue de Champagne to be the 'world's most drinkable address'.
